The first time I got my hands on a microcomputer would have been around '81; it was an Apple 2 (plain old Apple 2, not +, e, etc.) I was sucked in right then and there. In '83 I got my own Atari 8-bit computer; pure heaven!
After high school I used IBM PC compatibles, dual Unisys 1100/72 mainframes, and a AT&T 3B2 mini computer for my work. The 3B2 ran System V Unix, So you could say I started using Unix in the '80s. I bought my 1st PC in 1993, a 486DX33 based unit with a whopping 4MB of RAM running MS-DOS 5 and Windows 3.1.
I've been with PCs and Windows ever since but have also gotten into the Linux realm around 2000, but always as a secondary OS. I've been using Linux as a primary OS for a few years now; not too long after "upgrading" to Windows 10 (which Linux has now replaced). I'm fairly knowledgeable about Windows, Linux, and PC hardware. I like to play around with single board computers; i.e. the Raspberry Pi and ilk.
