Thanks for that, @harps116! I forgot to mention it too! Peek is what I used to create those screen capture sessions. It’s awesome!

Though I think I should have used gifsicle to optimize the GIF images after the Peek captures. The GIFs were so large that they were bogging my laptop down…

Thanks I should learn about DosBox and such, then I could have it all on one PC or laptop. Just dug out my two Ubuntu books yesterday and looking over the intro again. Yes, the Lotus smart sweet had been run on a laptop with a 40 GB drive, had Word and Wordperfect Excel and a game on it, and still had 10 GB left over. Wish I had that machine back again : ) I’m trying to remember if that was MB not GB : ) It was in 1994 I’m pretty sure. The company I worked for furnished the laptop… When they lost the next bid about 3 years later, they took the laptop with them, and the next company that took over the place, did not furnish me with a laptop… So, I went out and bought a cheap one and never had all those programs on the same computer again, all the programs SWELLED in size and were memory hungry.
      Thanks again
      Bill

Good point, i was think in terms of who is alowed and forgot the who would want to.
The more I am thinking about it we might not need a moderator. We could see about setting up a system where after x number of down votes a thread or post is deleted maybe something like ( DownVotes - UpVotes >= 5 ), then it’s not one persons job to remove spam/offensive posts

@mythgard If he didn’t, Orange Computer can sponsor the LUG Meetup page. We’ll find out soon and make it happen.

The People’s Food Co-op charges $40 per meeting for the space. I’ve been pitching in to help Matthew with the cost. If we all tossed in a few bucks per meeting it would only cost each of us a beer/cup of coffee/[your favorite vice here] each. I really like the space: it’s convenient and it’s a good place to get a quick and/or good meal before the meetings.

Last night’s meeting was nice. I liked the presentation on GIMP as I was aware of GIMP, but had not really seen a lot of its capabilities before. Adam’s presentation of Manjaro was also interesting to me with the repositories and the GUI that they use. I might try it out.

I also appreciate the open conversation that we had about privacy and encryption on the internet and all of you who spoke up to answer my questions about the concern.

I look forward to the meeting next month!

      Greetings Tage and Group
My name is Bill Wood, I have WAY too many hobbies and interests to do much good in any of them. My main hobby is Amateur Radio, hence the call letters KE9XQ. I would bore you with the list, so will keep this short. Learnng is getting harder for me too, as I read a paragraph and an hour later might fail test on it : ) I’m not that old yet, 71, but still feel young enough to start another project. IF any of you guys want some salvaged parts from old TVs Radios and such for a project, I have a fairly large joungue box : ) I’m willing to share the goodies. I also have a hobby of saving OLDE radio programs and TV shows. 99% are in the public domain, so if you want so Fibber McGee and Molly or Gun Smoke and a horde of others titles, let me know I’ll share them VIA Wetransfer or give you a dvd or two : ) I have a 70 Chevy C10 that I’m looking for parts for AND a few pother things that help keep me busy. Look forward to getting to know more of you as tme goes on here. Cheers
      Bill

I may have some great resources for you, but I am waiting to get the permission to publish them directly on the open internet.

      Hey David,

If deemed too far removed from Linux, you could always talk about it at the laxdevtech weekly meet up?

We have already had a presentation on gh-pages and Jekyll, so this topic would tie in nicely.

Notes from that talk can be found here .

I installed Foxy Gestures too, with limited success; it seems to be somehow page-specific whether the gestures work or not. I’ve been following this thread and I’m curious to see how the Mozilla devs handle it…

      Hey Matthew,

Did you set up Nextcloud to be visible from the Internet? I’ve been interested in playing with a “federated” Nextcloud setup – where 2 or more separate installations are connected and can share stuff between them.

      My instance is at https://grunch.org/nextcloud

Let me know if yours is visible to the intertubes.

I tried to post this morning, but I must have done something wrong.

No ideas on a place to meet, but would have been happy to attend.

Meeting space is also an issue with bringing the Tech/Dev/Something MeetUp back to life.
